Are You Experiencing God Today?
More and more, I’m finding God asking me to reduce my vocabulary to fewer and fewer words. For many of you, that’s probably something you’ve been hoping to hear from a pastor for years! But seriously, friends, I’m finding that the best thing I can say to a person right now is in the form of a very short question…“HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED GOD TODAY?”
As many of you know, we’ve been in a season of great change here at the Vineyard of Cedar Rapids and throughout these months, we’ve seen more and more people enter into a time where God is releasing a great increase of His personal interaction with them. If you were at our Sunday morning service this past week, you heard several people tell amazing testimonies of how God is actively involved in their lives right now, bringing an increase of His presence into their everyday lives. I encourage you to go on-line and listen to some of those testimonies on-line (www.crvineyard.org/teachings.kt) and open up to the November 1st Teaching of the Week: ENCOURAGING ONE ANOTHER.
Actually these reports that God is meddling in our lives shouldn’t surprise us. The Bible clearly proclaims that with the advent of Jesus, God is bringing a whole new way of relating with His people. In Eugene Peterson’s translation of the Bible (The Message) Jesus says this:
“If anyone loves me, he will carefully keep my word and my Father will love him—we’ll move right into the neighborhood!” (John 14:23)
So, my question to you is this, if Jesus and the Father (accompanied by the Holy Spirit) are moving into YOUR neighborhood, why wouldn’t you expect an increase of experiencing God in your life? It’s our prayer that as we move into this last two months of 2009, all of us will enjoy a greater increase of God-awareness in our lives. Jesus has come to set us free, to empower us with His Spirit, and set us on a wonderful journey of experiencing Him daily in our day-to-day lives! MORE LORD!
